Tournament production takes a village. If you’d like to volunteer to help Governor’s Cup run as efficiently as possible, please complete the following form:

Event Dates: Friday, August 15 to Sunday, August 17, 2025

Location: Civic Memorial Center, Lubbock, TX

Host League: Dallas Derby Devils (DDD) and West Texas Roller Derby (WTRD)

Production Task Descriptions

  • Setup and/or Strike: (Please see below for dates/times these will occur.) Help with overall setup and/or tear down of the event, such as the hanging and taking down of banners, assisting vendors with set up/tear down, assisting track crews, loading in and out of equipment, etc. Please be prepared to take direction from DDD and WTRD Board/Chair staff and do what is needed when asked. (moderate mobility)

  • Tournament HQ/Information: Point people in the right direction, answer questions, replace lost badges, and other logistics needs. (low mobility)

  • Registration/Check-in: Register and/or check in team skaters, crew members, and/or volunteers before and during the event. Must be good at organization and communication. (low mobility)

  • Merchandise: Process current DDD and WTRD merch sales and assist with the pick-up of pre-purchased Governor's Cup merch orders. Must be comfortable handling cash, making change, credit card processing, and answering questions. (low mobility)

  • Door Staff/Security: Be stationed at doors throughout the venue, ensuring only event participants/staff/VIPs/etc. can access appropriate parts of the facility, checking for appropriate wristbands, and redirecting lost spectators. (low mobility)

  • Track Repair/Maintenance: Work directly under DDD Track Manager to complete tasks such as cleaning spills, re-taping tracks, cleaning benches; overall track clean-up and maintenance between games and as needed. (moderate mobility)

  • Media Assistance: Support the DDD media and production teams by updating social content, including scores & schedules, streaming links, photos, afterparty info, etc. (low mobility)

  • Language/ADA Assistance: Provide language translation, ASL interpretation, and/or be available to help expedite ADA needs. (low mobility)

  • Floaters: Must be multi-talented and be able to multi-task. Must be able to easily communicate with strangers, answer event questions, trouble shoot, etc. Restock gear areas & bench water, general event upkeep and tasks as needed, make runs to pick up miscellaneous supplies, patrol to verify crowd well-being, keep watch for vendor tables when vendors need short breaks. Must be motivated to find stuff to take care of and relay messages from one person to another upon request. Local floaters who can run errands by car is a huge plus! (moderate mobility)

  • Officials WranglerCoordinate and assist event officials and tournament heads by ensuring they have updated schedules, necessary materials, and are in the right locations. This includes managing food, snacks, and drinks for officials, and acting as a liaison between officials, tournament heads, and event organizers to address any needs. The role focuses on providing logistical support throughout the event to ensure smooth operations for all involved. (moderate mobility)
